By using Smart Khata — whether as a guest or a logged-in user — you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before using the Service.

1. About Smart Khata

Smart Khata is a free expense tracking tool that lets you:

• Log daily expenses with one tap
• Track spending by category (Food, Transport, Shopping, etc.)
• View Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, and Lifetime summaries
• Set and monitor budgets
• Download expense reports as CSV files
• Use the tool without creating an account (Guest Mode), or log in for data sync across devices
• Install Smart Khata as an app (PWA) on your phone or desktop
• Use the tool in English, Hindi, or Odia

Smart Khata is provided for personal financial tracking and informational purposes only.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital consent age in your country) to use Smart Khata.
• By using the Service, you confirm that the information you provide (if any, such as your name and email when logging in) is accurate.

3. Guest Mode vs. Logged-In Accounts

• Guest Mode: You can use Smart Khata without creating an account. Your data is saved using a secure browser cookie. If you clear your cookies, switch browsers, or switch devices, your guest data may be lost.
• Logged-In Accounts: Logging in (via your website account or Google Sign-In) links your expense data to your account, so it stays saved and syncs across devices. If you use Guest Mode first and later log in, your guest data will be automatically merged into your account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Smart Khata is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from a compromised or shared account.

4. Acceptable Use

When using Smart Khata, you agree that you will not:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, security measures, or category/entry restrictions built into the tool
• Submit automated, spam, or bulk-generated entries that abuse the system
• Attempt to access another user’s data without authorization
• Reverse-engineer, copy, or resell the Service without permission
• Upload or enter any content that is abusive, defamatory, or illegal

We reserve the right to limit, suspend, or remove access for accounts or guest sessions found violating these Terms.

5. Your Data and Content

• All expense entries, category names, and budget data you enter belong to you.
• You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the financial information you enter into Smart Khata.
• You can export (download as CSV), edit, or delete your data at any time from within the tool.

6. Notifications and Emails

• If you turn on “Notifications,” Smart Khata may send browser notifications for budget alerts, weekly/monthly summaries, and reminders.
• If you turn on “Email Me,” Smart Khata may send you a combined expense report to your registered email address when you log in.
• Both features are entirely optional and can be turned off anytime from the tool’s header.

7. No Financial Advice

Smart Khata is a tracking and organizational tool only. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Any suggestions shown in the app (such as “What You Could Buy Instead”) are for illustrative and motivational purposes only and should not be treated as financial recommendations. Please consult a qualified professional for financial or tax decisions.

8. Service Availability

• Smart Khata is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.
• We do our best to keep the Service running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that the Service will always be available.
• We may update, modify, or temporarily suspend features (including this tool) at any time, with or without notice, to improve performance, security, or add new functionality.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:
